About Our Young Adults IOP

At OCD & Anxiety Colorado, our Young Adults Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is designed to meet the complex needs of individuals navigating OCD, social anxiety, generalized anxiety, and related disorders. This evidence-based program combines Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), family involvement when appropriate, and wraparound services to support sustainable progress and autonomy.

Why an IOP for Young Adults?

Many young adults with anxiety disorders find that weekly outpatient therapy is not enough. Intensive outpatient care offers a higher level of support while allowing individuals to remain in their communities and continue with school, work, or family responsibilities. This format is particularly effective for those experiencing functional impairment, difficulty completing daily tasks, and/or transitioning out of adolescent treatment models.

Structured Care Without Disruption

We provide a high level of care without pulling your young adult out of their life.

  • Evening hours allow continuation of school, work, or college transitions.

  • IOP offers the intensity of treatment without hospitalization or full-day programs.

Focus on Life Skills, Not Just Symptom Reduction

We treat the person, not just the diagnosis.

  • Skills for time management, decision-making, self-care, and healthy boundaries.

  • Therapy includes real-life exposures (e.g., job interviews, dating, school deadlines).

Support for Co-Occurring Needs

We understand that OCD and anxiety rarely exist in a vacuum.

  • Optional wraparound care includes OT, academic coaching, psychiatric consultation, and case coordination.

  • We collaborate with current providers to ensure continuity of care.

Collaborative and Respectful Support

We partner with families without taking over.

  • Family therapy is offered as an optional service—not a requirement.

  • We equip parents to shift from rescuing or reassuring to supporting healthy independence.

  • We honor young adults’ autonomy while helping families stay informed.

Clear, Data-Driven, Progress Tracking

You’ll never wonder if it’s working.

  • We use standardized tools (e.g., Y-BOCS, GAD-7, PHQ-9) and track progress session to session.

  • Discharge and aftercare planning begins early and includes family collaboration, when appropriate.

Safe, Identity-Affirming Environment

Your young adult deserves to feel understood—not pathologized.

  • LGBTQIA+ inclusive, neurodivergent-affirming, and trauma-informed care.

  • Clinicians trained to meet young people where they are—in both identity and development.
